Today the mailman joyed me with another piece of equipment for my airsoft loadout. After looking around for quite some while, I have been convinced into buying a Warrior Assault Systems RICAS Compact. This RICAS vest is no replica stuff, it’s the real deal, but what does it offer??? Let’s take a look !

The setup I've ordered, the RICAS Compact M4, comes with :

- 1x Adjustable Radio Pouch
- 2x Small Medic Utility Pouch
- 1x Double Pistol Mag
- 5x SM4 5.56mm double Mag Pouches (holds a total of 10 mags)

Impression
When unboxing the vest the first thing that I notice is the size; it’s quite compact. The high cut means that it is a little less tall, unlike some full size vests this gives you more space to move around and will give more comfort for use in vehicles. The inside of the vest is made out of mesh material, allowing air to circulate between your body and the vest. This helps reducing heat, and gives the wearer more comfort. Also, in the back panel a foam insert gives support and comfort to your back

The vest comes with separate pouches, you need to attach them to the MOLLE-loops before you will be able to use the vest. This enables you to set the vest up the way you like. Attach the pouches is quite easy; the MOLLE-loops and straps are quite easy to weave in, though not loose or wobbly. When attached the pouches feel quite sturdy on the vest. On the pictures you see the supplies pouches, with additional Admin Pouch.

You will need to take some time to fully adjust the vest to your size, which can be done by adjusting both the shoulder straps and the cumberbund. The shoulder straps consist out of a Velcro covered padding and a buckle. This holds quite well, and allows full adjustment while remaining solid on your body. The cumberbund can be adjusted in the front, by pulling up the Velcro flaps on the front side, and by pulling up the Velcro flap on the backside. On the backside adjustments can be made by adjusting the straps that are held together by the release wire.

After proper fitting and moving around, kneeling down a bit, lying down on the ground etc. the vest feels quite comfortable. It doesn't restrain movement a lot, but feels solid enough to give a tight fit.

Though extensive field-testing needs to be done, it is clear to me that this is a well fabricated and durable vest. It isn’t uncomfortable like some vests, the standard load-out is quite nice and will give you lots of space for mags and small items. Though a bit more expensive than the usual airsoft vests, it’s quite the bang for buck vest, seeing as it has ready to use setups available. Pricing depends on your demands, each setup has a different price, but the quality makes up for being priced a bit higher than the more common airsoft vests. Next to that, Warrior Assault Systems has a huge assortment of additional pouches, enabling you to create a load-out that suits your needs.

Linkje gefixed, stond een bracket-typo Ik ben zelf ook erg benieuwd, 't zal ff duren voor ik 'm kan testen ivm. vakantie enzo, maar dat geeft me wel de tijd om even kritisch te kijken wat ik nog aan extra pouches wil/nodig heb.

Vooralsnog zit ie echt als gegoten en is het verschil met m'n oude vest direct goed merkbaar

Heb je er al mee gespeeld? Ik zat een beetje te kijken naar assult vests, chest rigs etc, en vroeg me af of een plate carrier niet veel cooler is, of dat het een beetje over the top is.

Ik heb het vest nu meerdere keren gebruikt, en kan niet anders zeggen dan dat het echt prima bevalt. Het zit comfortabel, is goed aan te passen op je lengte/breedte/omvang. Ik vindt een plate carrier relaxter dan een assasult vest (vind ik meer zo'n Expendables thingie) en een chestrig zit mij gewoon niet lekker. Uiteraard lever je wel wat bewegingsvrijheid in met een plate carrier, de keerzijde is dat je er wel veel ruimte voor al je tacgear hebt

Ik zou iig niet willen ruilen !

Het staat ook beter dan een chest rig iig. En iedereen die zegt dat het daar niet (ook) om gaat mag met waterpistolen gaan spelen ;-)

Ben positief verrast dat die nederlandse shop niet zo extreem veel duurder is als UK Tactical, prijsverschil ligt met verzendkosten toch onder de 50€ - dat heb ik al eens veel erger gezien.

Ik heb zelf de "standaard" RICAS, de PLCE Belt en het 901er chestrig-set met backplate. Dat spul is niet kapot te krijgen, zeer comfortabel en uitermate goed verwerkt.

P.S. voor wie het niet weet: Templar Systems biedt ongeveer dezelfde systemen aan, qua prijs vergelijkbaar met WAS...

Prijzen vallen idd erg mee vergeleken met UKT. Ik heb zelf de RICAS Compact, Assault belt, Hydration carrier, dropleg holster, en nog wat kleine meuk. Kwaliteit is idd zeer degelijk, ik ben voortgesleept (medic rule) eraan en niks aan t handje ;-)

Overigens, met het orienteren naar tactical gear heb ik me niet laten leiden door de looks maar meer door de functionaliteit, soms zijn looks net even minder belangrijk dan comfort//effectiviteit

Mooi vest, ik heb zelf een chestrig, ooit gekocht voor mijn duty naar Afghanistan. Ik wilde toen ook zo vest maar ivm de hitte gekozen voor een open rug.
Maar uit ervaring in real life weet ik dus dat zo vest onmisbaar is tijdens contact!
